Just the other night i was talking to a friend about love and relationships, and how sometimes we tend to do things just because it is “what we are suppossed to do”, when things should just come natural.
With Valentine’s day coming my special one suggested we could buy each other something nice and do something romantic. I liked the idea as i love both buying and getting gifts and doing something with someone you like is always nice but…are we doing it ‘cos we want or because it is what we are suppossed to do for V’s day? I am romantic, and passional, and tender everyday and i refuse to act a different way just because everything that surrounds me is red hearts and pictures with puppies and teddybears ;p
It is the same with christmas. Everyone is good to each other, and you see these commercials about supporting kids in Africa and all this is awesome but, shouldnt we be good people and help each other all year?
Or we can be selfish and mean the rest of the year as long as we do our little charity in christmas?
Do we need some marketing to tell us what we should do?
With all this said, I have to admit i got inspired by Tainted tunes, the soundtrack of the Tainted Love Hunt (server is currently down but i hope they fix it soon), and i am getting ready a special setlist for pre-valentine’s party at SL Addicts on Friday with some love songs…but i must warn you i wont stream the tipically romantic stuff ;p

Agreed Amelie. Every holiday contains a core of values and traditions that’s worth keeping but they are all tainted by merchants who do their best in getting us to splurge out in candy hearts, teddybears and photos of puppies (who likely ended up as korean soup after the photoshoot :p).
I really don’t like Valentines (for a number of reasons that I won’t rant about here). And I can’t understand how women across the world are swooned by the gifts they get on the 14th. It’s like being surprised over the sun rising in the morning. Talk about forced gifting.

How much Valentines day sucks in SL and the real world is totally what inspired me and Sam to arrange the hunt, and to give it this sick, instead of sickly theme.
I had tainted tunes on last night, and within 20 minutes it totally inspired me to put something else on, heh.
Oh yes, and that is exactly why i loved the hunt so much, and all the gifts. I like that sick strange form of seeing V’s day.
